A Week in the Life of a UIUX Designer

I’ve been working as a UIUX designer at Kwazi for more than a year now. It’s been a period of self-reflection, chasing deadlines and lots of laughter. Somehow I’m always juggling at least three projects, with a smile on my face; in a fast-paced environment that keeps me on my toes, I have come to realize the endless bank of stories to share—whether it’s insights, challenges, or moments of creativity from the ever-changing world of design. For now, I’m keeping things light with a quick journal of my days.

“Success is the sum of small efforts
repeated day in & day out.”

DAY 01
Monday Mojo:
Tarasha, Tea, & Tasks!

Kicking off the week with a solid plan to keep everything on track. I’ve got new UIUX tasks lined up for the team on Basecamp, setting the stage for a productive week. Today is all about diving into PROJECT TARASHA—starting with reading the brief, scoping out the work, and hopping on an intro call with the clients. Afterward, I’m crafting a UIUX questionnaire and beginning some UX research.
A quick break with Swayam and my usual order of boba tea adds a little joy to the day. I wrap things up by tackling some miscellaneous design tasks for emailers and website banners for an upcoming sale.

DAY 02
Tuesday Triumphs: Design Chats &
a Tasty Lunch Break!

So excited! Today, I’m leading a focus interview for PEE SAFE, which is always such an engaging experience! As usual, I start by planning out the day’s priorities (In case you haven’t noticed, we’re big on planning… BIG.) After that, it’s back to Tarasha—continuing with the UX research, checking out the competition, and doing a SWOT analysis on the current website. I send out the UIUX questionnaire to the client and start gathering all our research into a document.
A yummy lunch break from a nearby spot keeps things light. Later, I find myself in a long meeting with PERPETUITY’s developer to clear up some design questions for their app.

DAY 03
Wednesday Wonders:
Creative Vibes & Client Chats!

My favourite music on, I’m in the zone ready to dive into some creative UI work and try out new ideas. I’ve got a meeting with JUST IN TIME to discuss their new requirements, ongoing tasks, and the next campaign. Wohoo! Tarasha sent their answered UIUX questionnaire, so diving right in on user personas and journeys, putting everything into a presentation for team to review.
There’s a lot of juggling between projects, but that’s what makes things exciting at Kwazi. I’m also getting started on paper wireframes—an essential first step before going digital.

DAY 04
Thursday Thoughts:
Sparking Ideas & Streamlining UX!

I’m kicking off the day enjoying my staple green tea and browsing websites with creative UI designs which I have found, is always a great way to get inspired. We’ve got an internal meeting to check in on Tarasha’s progress and plan the next steps with a bigger focus on information architecture. Then, it’s time for a “Clarity Party” for one of our clients, where we dig into user behaviour on their website to see what’s working and what needs tweaking. I get influenced by the cloudy weather and take a break on the office balcony, watching the beautiful blue sky and enjoying the wind.
The rest of the day is all about digital wireframes and mood-boarding for Tarasha’s UI, and I’ve scheduled a meeting with the client to go over our UX research and insights.

DAY 05
Friday Feels: Final Touches & a Well
Earned Chill Session!

Nothing like the thrill of making those final tweaks to presentations before a client meeting! Today, I’m discussing the direction of a project with the client, going through references, and kicking off the website’s UI design. During lunch, my coworkers and I decided to go downstairs for a light walk. On our way down, we meet Bruno- the much adored building dog! Once we’re back in the office, I resume my assignments till the evening.
Since it’s Friday, I’m wrapping up a bit early for some team fun. We all end up playing Jenga and UNO while starting with sips of masala chai, and as the evening progresses, cracking open a can of beer. As the wise say, Thank god it’s Friday!

As I wrap up another week filled with creative challenges and rewarding moments, I’m reminded of why I love what I do. It’s the opportunity to shape meaningful user experiences that truly drives me. Each project, no matter how complex, is a chance to learn, grow, and push the boundaries of design. I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into my world, and that it inspires you to embrace your own creative journey with the same passion and enthusiasm. Until next time, keep creating and stay inspired!
